Nycole’s Happiness Project

There is something to be said for seeing the silver lining in things. When you focus on the good in a situation you allow it to outweigh or overshadow the bad which leads to increased happiness. Psychology Today says, that happiness is more than simply a positive mood, but a state of well-being that encompasses living a good life—that is, with a sense of meaning and deep satisfaction. With that being said, I am going to try to capture the best moments of each day (or as many days as I remember) here on my blog, an idea I got from my friend, Martin Lieberman, who does this on his blog. I’ll be updating this same post, so stay tuned. I challenge you to write your happy moments, even if it’s just once a week or whenever you remember. We all have to celebrate the good more often.

P.S. I’ve already begun missing some – I promise it’s not because the day was terrible just forgot ha.

Nycole’s Moments of Happiness

January 15 – Hiking at Runyon. One of the places that made me fall in love with LA two years ago was Runyon. Just absorbing the view and the beauty of the city captured me.

January 14 – Good music. Is that anyone else’s silver lining to a day. Just getting lost in good music and enjoying the moment.

January 13 – Family. Or the people who become family even if they didn’t start out that way. They include you and make you feel loved with no reservations or asks.

January 12 – After a rough day yesterday, I had many friends who were here to talk me through a tough situation. I appreciate all their love.

January 11 – Walks around the city with Maizy! We went back to Venice Beach and caught an incredible sunset.

January 9 – Those moments when you just feel on at work!

January 7 – Maizy!! Having a dog is the best thing ever. It’s an automatic partner in crime for whatever. We went to the dog park for her and then went to lunch for me. Where Maizy also had grilled chicken haha!

January 6 – Today was a twofer – catching up with friends + amazing food. It was so nice to catch up with a friend from Chicago who was in town over a delicious brunch.

January 5 – I’m really enjoying making friends out here in LA and just settling into my life here. Had a fun dinner with a friend and just chilled at the Grove.

January 4 – Today was one of those rough days when seeing the silver lining isn’t as easy as others. I will say the highlight that came out of my day was a compliment I got on my Instagram. It’s really cool to know people actually enjoy what I’m putting on there. Makes me feel good because I’m putting pieces of myself out there.

January 3 – Yesterday I posted my first blog post in like 5 years or something. Figured it would be more just a post for myself but today I was getting lots of positive notes and text messages. That felt amazing. I honestly didn’t even think anyone would read it. So cool.

January 2 – Today I took Maizy to work. I love that I can take her to work with me. Always puts a smile on my face when I can be with my best friend.

January 1 – Kicked off 2018 in the best possible way. Time with friends and my dog 🙂 Kicked off the day with a hike at Elysian Park with Maizy. Really fun path with great views. We then went to our families house for a BBQ where Maizy had a blast playing with the kids all afternoon!
